adidas hosted an exclusive urban football tournament with a unique twist at Melbourne’s Docklands Studios this week to coincide with the launch their new football boots – ACE & X.
Prior to the final of the tournament which featured juniors from Box Hill, Port Melbourne, Eltham and South Melbourne, Real Madrid players including Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema surprised the finalists by presenting the official match ball for their last game of the evening.
Real Madrid players then broke into groups with some judging the on field performances while others coached in front of a packed venue.
Earlier in the evening on their way to Docklands, the full Real Madrid squad was also treated to an authentic Melbourne sightseeing experience as they were taken by barge down the Yarra River through the heart of Melbourne's Central Business District. As they headed past Flinders Street Station past Southbank, Crown Casino’s iconic gas cylinders also burst to life with fireballs to officially welcome the team to the city.
In Australia for the International Champions Cup, the travelling team has brought most of its global stars who faced off against AS Roma on Saturday night and will take on Manchester City (Friday 24 July) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Meanwhile, earlier this week adidas fans were already given a unique Real Madrid experience, after the change room area of the adidas Bourke Street Mall store was transformed to replicate the team’s dressing room in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
